Please be aware that Phishing emails are still alive and kicking – be reminded that every time you receive an email suggesting that something is wrong with your account on a well known service or website, that you need to check a few things:

  1. Did the email FROM an address that looks ‘correct’ – this one DID NOT.
  2. Was the email sent to the correct address for your account – this one was not.
  3. (& 4) When you mouse-over the link to “fix” the problem – does it take you to the correct website (not correct here)
    • Now these are just a few quick tips to help you tell the blatantly obvious phishing emails from something which might be legitimate.

We also recommend that if you suspect an email of being suspicious, do NOT follow links in the email, but instead open a browser and either type the address yourself, or use your own bookmarks/favorites.

If the phishing attempt is from a bank or other financial institute, you can always PHONE THEM – but do not use the phone number in the email, take your statement of credit card and use the phone numbers from those (or the one stored in your cellphone directory).
