End of support for ESET NOD32 Antivirus 2.7

Support for ESET NOD32 Antivirus 2.7 is being discontinued because it is outdated and  relies on “retired” Microsoft operating systems. We recommend that customers who currently use ESET NOD32 Antivirus 2.7 upgrade to the latest version available, free of charge, because it provides improved security and functionality.

Q1: When will updates and customer support be discontinued?
A1: On February 1, 2010, ESET NOD32 Antivirus 2.7 software was removed from ESET’s website and is no longer sold. On May 29, 2012, Virus Signature Database updates and customer support for NOD32 Antivirus 2.7 will be discontinued. ESET’s existing Knowledgebase content and product manuals for ESET NOD32 Antivirus 2.7 will continue to be available.

Q2: Do I have to pay to upgrade?
A2: ESET offers free upgrades to all the latest versions of our security products. Customers may use existing licenses to download and install our newest antivirus software.

If you would like to upgrade to the latest version, you will need to download the installer for the latest version. You will then need to uninstall ESET NOD32 Antivirus 2.7 prior to installing the latest version.

Q5: What if I have Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME?

: Microsoft “retired” their support for 98/ME as of July 2006. Please refer to the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article for more information: End of support for Windows 98, Windows Me, and Windows XP Service Pack 1. The scheduled end of life for ESET NOD32 Antivirus 2.7 falls 5 years after the retirement of Microsoft operating systems 98/ME.

Note: Windows NT users who wish to continue to used ESET security products should upgrade to ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4.

Q6: What are the system requirements for ESET NOD32 Antivirus?

Q7: Will I be able to download 2.7 ESET products for Windows Workstations/Servers, despite ESET discontinuing their support?

The 2.7 download links will be removed from the ESET Download servers on March 27, 2012. However, the products that have reached their end-of-life will still be available for download in the following ESET Knowledgebase article: Download discontinued 2.7 ESET workstation and server products.
