The recent super-hit game from Nintendo: Super Mario Run, was released on iOS, but not Android. This gave malware authors an opening to put out a faked app claiming to be ‘Super Mario Run for Android’. It is nothing of the sort.
Instead, those that download the app hoping to get a game, will find themselves compromising their phones with the Android Marcher Trojan.
A similar thing happened last year with the Pokemon GO application when a compromised version of the application emerged within a week of the iOS version of the mobile game being released.
